Leading scorer and captain of Indianapolis Cathedral’s 1931 team … named first team All-American in National Catholic Tournament … twice a captain of Tony Hinkle-coached Butler teams, ‘37 and ‘38 … leading scorer as a senior in ‘38 … All-State that season named to Marquette University’s all-opponent team … considered by Hinkle as Butler’s best all-time defensive player … as a high school coach, guided Evansville Reitz Memorial to state Catholic championship in ‘41 … career coaching record of 477-233 at Reitz, St. Joseph’s College, and Tipton, Franklin and Goshen high schools … won sectional and regional at Goshen, where he turned a struggling program around, posting 10 straight winning seasons.
