Standout athlete at Clayton High School in basketball, track, and softball….started four years in basketball and football at Franklin College and served as captain of each team for three years and two years respectively….earned degrees from Franklin College, Butler University and Indiana University….coached at Bainbridge, Charlottesville, and Manual High Schools winning a total of 200 games while dropping only 72….lost the heartbreaking state basketball championship game in 1961 to Kokomo by two points in overtime….coached legendary basketball players Tom and Dick Van Arsdale….the Indianapolis Public Schools dedicated the 1990 City Basketball Tournament to Coach Cummins for his contribution to Indianapolis high school basketball ….he served 12 years as guidance counselor at Northwest High School and concluded his career in the field of education by serving 10 years as the Vice-Principal at the same school. Deceased.
