Class president and team captain as senior at Franklin Twp...played 2 yrs of basketball and 3 yrs of baseball for Tony Hinkle at Butler ... earned a tryout with Pittsburgh Pirates organization but opted for career in education...coached 2 yrs at Moral Twp, 7 at Bluffton, 5 at Shelbyville and 3 at Manual...coached Hall of Famer Gary Long at Shelbyville in '57... moved to Oak Park, IL, in 1964, eventually became athletic director at famed Proviso West (enrollment 8400), supervising 98 coaches and 1,000 contests a year. He returned to Indianapolis in 1976 as Director of Athletics for IPS. He retired in 1985. He has been a Hall of Fame Director since 1985 and an officer since 1990.
