Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame hosts Southern Indiana Golf Outing

May 7, 2012

The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame will return to Country Oaks Golf Course in Montgomery on Tuesday, June 12 for another unique golf outing.

For the 2nd consecutive summer, the Hall will host their Southern Indiana Golf Outing at the Daviess County course with a nod to the area-s basketball heritage.

Many teams were entered last year playing in recognition of Southern Indiana schools both past and present. Among the schools remembered last year through team entries were the Elnora Owls, Monroe City Blue Jeans, Odon Bulldogs, Epsom Salts, Loogootee St. John-s Eagles, Oaktown Oaks and Alfordsville Yellow Jackets along with the Loogootee Lions, North Daviess Cougars, Barr-Reeve Vikings, Princeton Tigers, Bloomfield Cardinals, Shakamak Lakers, Shoals Jug Rox, Springs Valley Blackhawks, Southridge Raiders, Washington Hatchets, Washington Catholic Cardinals and Evansville Memorial Tigers, amongst others.

This year the event will feature morning and afternoon flights to allow even more Southern Indiana participants.

A morning flight will begin at 8:00 a.m. and an afternoon flight will tee off at 1:30 p.m. From Noon to 1:00 p.m. a hog roast lunch will take place, along with a sports memorabilia auction.

The cost to play is $75 per person or $300 per foursome. Opportunities also are available for $100 hole sponsorships and for corporate sponsors. We welcome the public to take part in this year-s event and socialize with some of the great players and coaches of Indiana high school basketball history.

The title sponsor of this year-s outing is the Willer Group of Raymond James and Associates, based in Greenwood, Indiana.

The event supports operations of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame museum in New Castle, the only statewide high school basketball hall of fame and museum in the country. The Hall is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that relies on fundraisers to operate.

The event is chaired by 1960 Washington High School graduate and Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Sam Alford.
