As a high school athlete, led his Thorntown team to the 1919 state finals … four-year varsity player at Purdue University, where he played for Hall of Fame Coach Piggy Lambert … Boilermaker captain his senior year … became Lambert’s assistant coach in 1925 … moved into high school coaching a year later, with a two-year stint at Robinson, Ill. … coached at Kokomo High School three years before moving on to Lafayette … coached Broncos from ’31 to ’41, also serving as the school’s athletic director and football coach. His son, Bobby Masters, was Mr. Basketball in 1948.
