First assignment as head coach at age 25 at Greene Twp; then South Bend Adams … Hadaway’s Adams teams won more Northern Indiana Conf Championships (9), more S. B. sectionals (5), more S.B. city tournaments (7) and had more wins (315) than any other coach in S.B. basketball history – and that includes names like Powers, McCall, and Wooden … 7 of his teams were ranked #1 at some point during regular season … 1973 team, ranked 17th in final regular season poll, advanced to the final game of the state tournament… 1978-79 team posted an undefeated regular season and won the 2nd ever Hall of Fame Classic tournament… he placed 5 players on the Indiana All-Star team and 12 players named to All-American teams.
