Key figure in the Winslow Eskimos’ success in late 40s & early 50s…scored 1,238 points on teams that amassed a 70-6 record, including an unbeaten regular season in 1949-50…team went 20-1 his sophomore year before a loss to eventual state champion Jasper in sectional, 25-2 his junior season as they advanced to the final game of semi-state (final eight) & 25-3 his senior season advancing to the semi-state semifinals (Sweet 16)…set NCAA record as sophomore at Memphis State Univ. (1954) by hitting 22 of 26 field goals against Marshall University…played final two years of college for Murray State, where he started all 51 games, was all-conference and averaged 19 points his senior year…draft pick of the NBA’s St. Louis Hawks…he later faced the Harlem Globetrotters as a member of the American Generals.
