Played 2 yrs at Ft Wayne South Side for Hall of Famer Burl Friddle …scoring record senior yr at Franklin College, where he was 4-yr varsity player and captain final 2 seasons…2-time All-State…began coaching career at Covington where he won 6 sectionals and 1 regional in 6 yrs… coaching asst was Virgil Sweet who would go on to his own great success… moving back to alma mater, coached 16 yrs, winning 7 sectionals, 6 regionals and 2 semistates…South captured state title in ’58.
