Earned a state championship ring with Frankfort H. S. as a sophomore…played key role in Frankfort’s next 2 trips to state finals in ’30 and ’31…scored 23 points in one game as junior, 24 as senior…All-State as a senior…led team to North Central Conf. title and Big Four Tourney championship…played AAU basketball for several years…in ’36 his South Bend Bendix team won sectional and appeared in National AAU tourney…’37 team won Indiana-Kentucky AAU championship and Southwestern Michigan Gold Medal…highly decorated for his World War II service…landed on Utah Beach on D-Day, and was wounded, captured, then later recaptured by Americans.
