Francis Bacon

‘Bake’ was All-State performer for South Bend Central in 1913 playing six games in two days in the old state tourney format. He played three years with the Wabash ‘Wonder Five,’ captaining the 1916 team. He was a two time All-Star Collegian. His Wabash team defeated Notre Dame five times out of 6 during that period, and also beat Purdue, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio state champs Miami University by an astonishing 48-16 margin. He played professionally in both Fort Wayne and for the Indianapolis Em Roes.
