30 years at Indiana School for the Deaf…began the ‘Mr. Athletics’ of the Indiana School for the Deaf…coached there 1931 to 1961 with a 229-391 record…team won national championship for school for the deaf 1935 and ’40…started football, baseball and track programs at ISD, serving 38 years as athletic director…much-heralded for his work bringing deaf athletes into public focus…first winner of Joe Boland Award for his contribution to youth….began playing basketball after graduating from Indianapolis Tech. He played on Butler’s national championship team in ’29, played on 3 Southside Turners teams that won Indiana-Kentucky AAU championships.
