One of the best all-around athletes at Indianapolis Cathedral High School…a 2-time All-Stater led his team to finals of national Catholic tourney as a junior in ’31, and to semifinals a year later…Catholic All-American as senior in 1932…led football team to state championship a year earlier…All-State quarterback…a 4-year straight-A student at Cathedral…a 3-year varsity basketball performer at Notre Dame…co-captained ’36 national championship team…stayed on at South Bend to coach…assistant varsity coach in ’37.
