John Hines Jr.

Member of the 1938 Fort Wayne Southside state championship team. 6’1″ sharp shooting guard made three consecutive long shots in the fourth quarter, as the Archers squeaked out a 34-32 win over Hammond. Team captain as a senior, named to the United Press and Associated Press All-State teams. Full athletic scholarship to University of Alabama, starting forward sophomore year. School was second in SEC behind Kentucky, second leading scorer senior year.
