A four-sport athlete at East Chicago Washington in 1945…went to Indiana University as a baseball player, earning three letters as a pitcher for the Hoosiers…spent two years as a head baseball coach at Hanover College, then returned to East Chicago in 1954 to begin a career as a coach and teacher in his home school system…compiled a record of 165-9 in ten seasons as a freshman coach at Washington then went 44-10 as junior varsity coach…assistant to Johnny Baratto.
