Led Lebanon to great success in early years of state tournament, including 1912 state championship as a junior… individually, he outscored all four teams the Tigers faced in the 1912 state tournament and his 42 points over the final two games stood as a state finals record for 34 years… selected all-state “first five” both junior and senior years, totaling a remarkable 612 points over two seasons, including a single-game record of 42… after playing at Wabash College, became a legendary high school coach in Illinois, winning 493 games in 29 seasons and eight times took teams to the Illinois state championships
