A 3-sport performer at New Castle High School…member of the Trojans’ 1932 championship team…fullback & linebacker on 2 undefeated football teams…placed in the state track meet in the 440…played basketball, football & track at Butler, but injury forced him to drop all but track…member of state champion mile relay team in ’35…after serving 5 years as assistant coach at New Castle, became Wabash High School’s varsity coach in ’44…won 3 sectional crowns in 5 years, plus an unprecedented outright championship in the Central Indiana Athletic Conference…moved to Auburn, winning 6 out of 7 sectionals…3 regional championships…returned to New Castle in ’56 as varsity coach…2-time coach of the year in North Central Conference…career coaching record 253-146. Deceased.
