Past President of the Indianapolis Downtown Lions Club … a native Hoosier, he dreamed of a place where the state’s great teams, players and coaches could be recognized for their hardwood heroics … together with sports broadcaster Tom Carnegie, he proposed that a Hall of Fame be created, then organized a development committee of basketball devotees from all parts of the state … a year later, in 1962, the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame was created, with Ray the committee host and chairman through the formative years, with his Downtown Lions Club taking early sponsorship.
