A 3-year standout at Washington High School, leading team to 75-17 record state champions in 1930 6-5 center scored 11 of his team’s 32 points in title game one of Indiana’s first black high school basketball players All-State 3 appearances in state tourney moving to Indiana Central, became state’s first dominant black collegiate player 4-year letterman 2-time All-State scored 506 points in days of center jump and low scores, and a dominant rebounder called by his high school coach, Hall of Famer Burl Friddle, ‘a great leader.’
