Started for Washington HS in ’17 state tourney … also track standout … 4-sport athlete at McKendree Col in Lebanon, IL, leading basketball team in scoring and baseball team in hitting before life- threatening illness sidetracked career … later returned to college at Franklin where he played baseball and track … short stint in pro baseball … coached at Washington Catholic … won state Catholic championship in 1931, advancing to 3rd round of national Catholic tourney.
