Raymond James joins Indiana Basketball HOF as Corporate Partner

March 27, 2017

The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame has gained national financial services firm Raymond James as their newest corporate partner with a multi-year agreement as the new title sponsor of the long-running Hall of Fame Classic holiday high school basketball tournament.

The Raymond James Hall of Fame Classic will debut with the 2017 edition of the event played Friday, December 29 and Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the New Castle Fieldhouse.

“We are appreciative of Raymond James’ interest in supporting the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and Indiana high school basketball with this partnership,” notes HOF executive director Chris May.  “We are excited for the enhanced visibility and promotion that we feel their firm will provide our event, and therefore increased promotion of these high school players and teams.”

“We are thrilled to partner with the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and support the great tradition of high school basketball in Indiana,” said Raymond James, Indianapolis Complex Manager representative Joe Touchton  “Since our founding in 1962 we have been strong supporters of our local communities and with over 70 Raymond James branches and affiliated offices throughout the state, this partnership gives us an opportunity to raise awareness of the value of high school athletics and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.”

The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, also established in 1962, seeks to enhance the role of basketball in Indiana by honoring those high school basketball players, coaches, officials and others who gained fame on the hardwoods of Indiana and in subsequent years have reflected honor upon themselves and the Indiana basketball community.  Since 1990, the organization has maintained a 14,000 square foot museum in New Castle dedicated to the history of basketball in Indiana.

The Hall of Fame Classic event has been played 40 times for boys and 33 times for girls.  Inviting four of the best Indiana high school girls teams and four of the best Indiana high school boys teams each year, the event has included 90 different IHSAA-member girls programs and 100 different IHSAA-member boys programs in event history.

The Boys Classic has featured 26 Indiana Mr. Basketball award winners, 24 McDonald’s All-Americans, 17 NBA Draft picks, 36 HOF inductees have coached teams in the event and 13 participating teams have gone on to win their state championship that season.

In 33 years, the Girls Classic has featured 23 Indiana Miss Basketball award winners (including each of the last eight winners), 10 McDonald’s All-Americans, eight WNBA players, 20 HOF inductees have coached teams in the event and 18 participating teams have gone on to win their state championship that season.
