Indiana Basketball History Magazine – Fall 2013
Twenty-four seasons ago he was MVP of an epic Hall of Fame Classic tournament. On December 27 Damon Bailey will return to the event. This time he is head coach of the Bedford North Lawrence girls- team.
In December 1989, Bailey – in the midst of his senior season and as the most watched high school player in state history – led his team into Bloomington-s Assembly Hall with eyes, statewide and beyond, upon them.
This season-s Bedford girls won-t be under quite the same microscopic focus. But following a 28-0 2013 4A state championship, the return of their entire starting five and a Hoosier legend sliding in as head coach, expectations are high.
