1984 Crown Point Team

Crown Point came as close as you can without winning in 1983, but in 1984 the Bulldogs, coached by Tom May, took home the Girls State Basketball Championship on February 25, 1984. A record-breaking crowd of 13,722 saw a great final game at Market Square Arena go into overtime with Crown Point winning over Warren Central 55-54. The Warriors, coached by Sue Parrish, had several opportunities to win the game in the closing seconds of the overtime, but Crown Point was not to be denied and took home the trophy.

This was the first time all of the Final Four were ranked in the top ten of the state poll. Crown Point had been rated number one the entire season and handled the pressure like true champions by being the fifth undefeated champs since the I.H.S.A.A. tourney began in 1976. The Bulldogs ended the season with a 26-0 record.
