One of the great early coaches…known as ‘the grand old man of Indiana high school basketball’… just 3 years out of Wabash College, his Lebanon team won the state title… a year later, now coaching at Anderson, his team lost state final to Lebanon… took 10 more Anderson teams to the state tourney in 14-year tenure… Anderson record 237-64, a .787 mark… became athletic director there in 1932, but a year later moved back to Monticello, where he had begun coaching… won 3 sectionals in 10 seasons there… 4-sport performer at Walton High School… held state record in track.
