Team captain of Muncie Central’s 1931 state championship team a year earlier, as a junior, he was Bearcats’ leading scorer in a state title game loss to Washington named All-State as a forward in ’30, All-State guard in ’31 his coach, Hall of Famer Pete Jolly, called him his most complete player Silver Medal winner Bob Barnet characterized him as ‘the single player who would be most likely to come through at a time when all the money, all the trophies, all the honors were on the table’ graduating at the height of the Depression deprived him of any chance to continue his education or his basketball career.
