Began a 30-yr coaching career in 1916 … stops in Clarksburg, Milroy, Owensville, Shelbyville and Crawfordsville … numerous state finals and semi-state appearances … Crawfordsville’s athletic director and assistant principal, 1945-62 … served 10 yrs on IHSAA Athletic Council … 2 yrs on IHSAA Board of Control, of which he is past president … as Committee Chair in ’32 he devised a rating system for officials, which is basically unchanged today … in late 20s and early 30s, led a successful 1-man campaign to reduce lengths of quarters for teams below varsity level … after retiring from teaching, he served as Crawfordsville park superintendent for 10 years.
