Mr. Basketball … won Trester Award after leading Indianapolis Tech to runner-up spot to Muncie Central’s state champions … as a junior, Tech was ousted in semistate by eventual champion Madison … four-sport high school athlete … two-time MVP at Purdue University, where he averaged 16.6 points in 66 games to leave as school’s leading career scorer … coached at Southwestern and Scecina high schools before becoming assistant coach at Purdue … became head coach at Butler Univ. where he was twice named Coach of the Year.
