John Forest “Crainie” Crane

Four-year basketball player for Wingate High School…played all four games in 1913 state finals, scoring the  winning basket in Wingate’s opening round overtime victory over Rochester…scored 14 of team’s 23 points in semifinals win against Lafayette…made crucial steal and game-winning basket against South Bend Central in five-overtime championship game… He and Hall of Fame inductee Homer Stonebreaker each made three field goals in the championship game, recording all of Wingate’s points… attended Wabash College before career-ending knee injury.
