Honored in 2002 with the Hall of Fame Pioneer of the Game Award…this award and the St. Vincent Silver Medal Award are tributes for her dedicated effort to bring about equal opportunities for girls in athletics in the Hoosier State…helped establish guidelines and a time frame to begin the state tournament series in all sports for girls…hard work and perseverance have resulted in thousands of young women having the opportunity to compete in one of the finest girls’ inter school athletic programs in the nation…taught at Chesterton H.S. (1960-64) and served as head of the Department of Girls Physical Education at East Gary Edison High School from 1964-71…recognized nationally by the Women’s Sports Foundation and the U.S. Olympic Committee…received the first Marian Archer Award and ICGSA Service Award from the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association…commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1993 and the following year presented with the Sagamore of the Wabash Award by the Governor of the State of Indiana.
