Phyllis Tubbs

Taught physical education for three years at Pierre Moran Jr. High School and six years at Elkhart High school before moving to Elkhart Memorial High school when it opened its doors in 1972…currently teaching physical education and serves as the assistant athletic director…during 35 years of athletic administration at Elkhart Memorial has long sought equal opportunities for high school girls’ athletics that she did not experience as a girl in high school…served on the Northern Indiana Conference Athletic Directors Council for 28 years and now serves with the Northern Lakes Conference Athletic Directors…serves on the Catherine Wolf Award Steering Committee that annually honors the outstanding Senior Female Athlete in the city of Elkhart…is a Charter member of the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association that was established in 1972…in 2003 the ICGSA Executive Board named their Service Award the Phyllis L.Tubbs Service award to honor her many contributions to that organization and athletics in the state of Indiana…honored by IHSAA with their Sportsmanship Award which was presented at the national Girls and Women in sport Day Luncheon and Awards Celebration…served on the Women’s Advisory Committee for the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame since 2000.
