5-time winner of the Indiana Sportswriter of the Year Award – an award that has since been named in his honor … a fixture of the Indianapolis News sports section for 21 years … author of the popular “Hoosier Sketchbook” column … covered sports for 6 years at Anderson Herald, then 10 years at Indianapolis Star before moving over to the News … also a skilled illustrator, with many of his works having been on display in this Hall of Fame … twice honored nationally for his work … though a lover of all sports, was most at home in a high school gym…Corky was a three-sport star for the Cambridge City Wampus Cats and a Rector Scholar at DePauw University..died in 1974 at the age of 58.
