Ron Smith

Member of the 1974 Elkhart Memorial regional championship team and named to 1974 Indiana All-Star squad, he played under HOF coaches Keith Daugherty (Elkhart) and Jim Powers (Elkhart Memorial)… received the Bringle Award for best senior athlete in Elkhart… continued career as a multi-sport athlete at Furman University… a member of Southern Conference champs, Southern Conference Tournament champs and two NCAA Tournament teams, he broke game, single-season and career assists records as well as single-season and career steals records… drafted in baseball by Philadelphia Phillies, he coached basketball at Miami University (OH) – Middletown and Middletown H.S., and has become winningest baseball coach in Furman history… member of 1999 Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team.
