Lettered 3 seasons at Middletown High School, graduating in 1932, played a year at Ball State … began a lengthy coaching career at tiny Straughn High School in ’37 … held that post 4 seasons, then served as that school’s principal 6 years … returned to Middletown in ’47 to begin 20-year reign as the Cossacks’ varsity basketball coach … despite never coaching a school with more than 200 students, he won the New Castle sectional 5 times … his 1953 team was undefeated.
