Henry Community Health increases partnership with Indiana Basketball HOF

Henry Community Health Hall of Fame Classic begins December 2023

(NEW CASTLE, Indiana) June 19, 2023– The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame is proud to announce that the HOF and Henry Community Health has increased their partnership with a multi-year agreement as the new title sponsor of the long-running Hall of Fame Classic holiday high school basketball tournament.

The Henry Community Health Hall of Fame Classic will debut with the 2023 edition of the event played Friday, December 29 and Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the New Castle Fieldhouse.  (For more information on the teams, click here)

“We are extremely excited and honored to welcome Henry Community Health as the new title sponsor of the Hall of Fame Classic.  Henry Community Health does so much for our community and student-athletes in our area.  We are thankful for their dedication to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, and our mission.  We love having them take a step up and increase our partnership and be able to showcase their name during our great tournament,” said Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Executive Director, Matt Martin.

“The Hall of Fame Classic tournament is a year-end tradition in this community. Henry Community Health’s continued support of this event will keep thousands of basketball fans from across our great state traveling to the world’s largest field house to see some of the finest talents in high school basketball. We are proud to support these fine athletes while showcasing our wonderful city,” said Brian Ring, President & Chief Executive Officer.

The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, established in 1962, seeks to enhance the role of basketball in Indiana by honoring those high school basketball players, coaches, officials and others who gained fame on the hardwoods of Indiana and in subsequent years have reflected honor upon themselves and the Indiana basketball community.  Since 1990, the organization has maintained a 14,000 square foot museum in New Castle dedicated to the history of basketball in Indiana, and soon to be 6,600 square foot expansion, ground breaking is schedule for September of 2023.

The Hall of Fame Classic event has been played 46 times for boys and 39 times for girls.  Inviting four of the best Indiana high school girls teams and four of the best Indiana high school boys teams each year, the event has included over 90 different IHSAA-member girls programs and over 100 different IHSAA-member boys programs in event history. 

The Boys Classic has featured 33 Indiana Mr. Basketball award winners, 26 McDonald’s All-Americans, along with many NBA draft picks and coaches that are inductees that have coached teams in the event.

In 39 years, the Girls Classic has featured 12 of the past 15 Indiana Miss Basketball award winners, 13 McDonald’s All-Americans, 12 WNBA players, and many coaches that are inductees.
