In ceremonies on Thursday, June 19, the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame dedicated the “Patty and Danny Danielson Theater”, recognizing the numerous contributions of the New Castle couple to the organization.

The event was attended by members of the Hall’s Board of Directors inductees, local community and business leaders, family and friends totaling nearly 100.

Helping spearhead the local organizing committee that helped land the organization and their museum in New Castle in the late 1980’s, the couple’s commitment to the Hall of Fame has been longstanding and unwavering.

 “Involved in details including securing a facility site, assisting in fundraising efforts, recruiting a robust volunteer staff and continually promoting the Hall of Fame museum as a destination, the Danielsons have truly been committed partners in our organization,” executive director Chris May noted.

Additionally, Mr. Danielson has been a longstanding member of the organization’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee, chairing several key committees, including the Ameriana Bank Hall of Fame Golf Classic and has been instrumental in procuring sponsorships.

As part of the ceremony, a commemorative plaque was unveiled that will be displayed at the entrance of the Danielson Theater.  Featuring a photo of the couple, it reads “Patty and Danny Danielson Theater… In recognition of their countless contributions and generosity, the Board of Directors of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame has named this room in their honor.”

Donald C. “Danny” Danielson and the late Patty (Peterson) Danielson have received numerous honors, awards and recognitions for their philanthropic endeavors with countless organizations, community entities and institutions.
